My earlies are growing at quite a pace, so much so, that there are flowers developing. Is this normal ?

Evening Freddy, a lot depends on what variety they are, Rocket tend to flower early.

They are Arran Pilot, my favourite

Thing is, I only planted them in the middle of April, around 5 weeks ago. Just seems a bit soon to me.

This warm spring has brought a lot of stuff on early. Feel around in the soil aaround one plant to check size. Mine look about to flower too, some international kidney and some charlotte, the tops look really healthy. Everything is early, the sprouts look as though they will be ready way before christmas

Arran Pilots should be ready when the flowers are starting to die off, which should be after about 8 or nine weeks from planting.

For some reason I had it in my head that spuds (earlies) took around 12 weeks from planting. Ah well, live and learn

Had a feed off my Maris Bard last week, they seem a lot earlier than Pilots & most other varities I've tried. There were quite a few tiny pots still left on the root so I re-planted them gave a good watering & they are still growing on with no sign of a wilt, so hopeful for another feed

Just started to dig my re-plants & getting a useful 2nd crop anyone else tried this ?
