Why is it that when you go away on holiday you come down with the worst cold and chest infection you have ever had. We went to Wales (Builth Wells) from Thursday evening (got an extra night because of the royal wedding) till Friday. My OH started a cold on Monday and was feeling better by Wednesday, though still has a bad cough. I started with a sore throat on Tuesday and by Friday I was dire, I had to drive for two hours on the way home, (it took us 6 hours because of the traffic jam and being stopped for one hour on the motorway)

I now have a chest infection am coughing up ugggg feel really awful, and my fybromyalgia has kicked in big time so I am not sleeping and am coughing and sneezing for England.

But the good side is that we had the best weather we have ever had on an early holiday, the cottage was lovely, we did do some really good walks and cycles. And we went to the National Welsh Botanical gardens on Thursday, (though it did rain like mad whilst we were there.)

Strangely enough we had a long chat with a very pleasant lady who was working on the vegetable garden who told us that she had planted courgettes, butternut squash, peas, broad beans, celery!! It was really interesting looking at her planting. And she was lovely.

Antibiotics, cough medicine and water should start to work for me, thanks Monika. Actually we were a bit early for the gardens but the glass house was really fabulous. Well worth a visit.

Morning Catherine, hope you are soon fighting fit again.
Glad the weather was kind for you both.

I wonder who gave you the illness, that has made you so poorly! :)
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

I went shopping before Christmas and was ill for weeks.
I loved the Welsh Botanic Garden when I went a few years ago, so much superior to the hyped Aberglasney nearby. So much to like, the walled gardens, the rill, the slate mulched plantings and, as you say, the greenhouse.

Hi catherine
Sorry to hear of your ills. I hope your next holiday does not see the same happening.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
