Fun idea for kids

I recently bought an RHS gardening book for kids and it had a great idea in it for making a wigwam for kids. It is really just a bean tepee but with a gap for the "door". Mini-haggis and I made one last weekend using bamboo canes for the main structure. We used the flexible stalks of old dock plants to weave in and out around the structure. We are going to plant morning glory and tom thumbs at the bottom of the canes. Can't wait to see what it looks like in a few months time. :)

I still genuinely believe that children enjoy that type fun just as much as sitting on their computer games.
They just need to be given the chance.

It's memories like that, that will live with them for a life time, so good on you Haggis.

I hope so OH. I have very fond memories of growing up next door to a retired dairy farmer and his wife. They had a fantastic garden and all the time in the world to indulge me and my sister. I blame them entirely for having caught the gardening bug!
Speaking of giving kids a chance, our local Dobbies does a kids club once a month. It's pretty basic but has become so popular lately that they now have 3 classes and a very long waiting list. I know that some of the kids who come along don't have access to a garden - only a patio so it's great for them. Competition to grow the biggest pumpkin or the tallest sunflower is so fierce it would put the local shows to shame
