If it hurts just let out a volley of angry swearing and you'll feel less pain. But use it sparingly or the effect apparently wears off.
*%$?#~ obvious, innit?

My Mam's chosen phrase at times of pain or stress was " begger, begger, begger, damn sh*t ! I still use it now occasionally and it brings back thoughts of 'me Mam'

every time.

I prefer to rely on my self discipline

, it's very, very rare that i raise my voice, let alone swear.

My late father in law's favourite expression, whenever angry or irritated, was "Thunder and Lightning" which nobody could possibly take offence at.
I'm ashamed to admit that mine can occasionally become more colourful.

Hi Primrose,
After 25 year in the armed forces where I learned some very naughty words I find that there are certain of these naughty words that seem to come to the fore only too frequently. However by using good plain English I managed to reduce a female Traffic Warden to tears. Now I do not propose to tell you what the good plain English was, because it is very rude and unpleasant to read, but there wasn't a swear word uttered.
I even surprised myself!
She slapped me a £60. fine because I was 1 minute late moving out of the parking space and I was putting goods into the boot at the time. I refused to pay the fine and on appeal the fine was rescinded. I hope that my words made her reflect before she ever becomes too over zealous again.
JB.

Johnboy. re traffic warden, recall some years ago was with my brother-in-law, found female traffic warden also slapping notice on his windscreen, he told her that "She abused the privilege of being called ugly", needless to say he still got the ticket, to this day I don't know why.
