Three years ago I planted a few Autumn Bliss canes against a north facing fence where they get very little direct sun. I know it's entirely the wrong location but it was the only space I had. I've manured the soil well and this year have had quite a lot of raspberries but the fruits are very small. Does this variety normally bear small fruit or is the smallness of the fruit in my case directly down to their inappropriate location?

Autumn Bliss fruits are usually huge. I'm reluctant to pronounce on their small size being correlated to where yours are planted. I grew a patch of Autumn Bliss some years ago in a shady spot where they prospered. As a guide, wIld raspberries grow on the margins of woodland.
Allotment, but little achieved.

Mine have been smaller on the whole this year too Primrose - I put it down to the dry weather in my case - not sure though whether that's a correct assumption.

The ones I manured are huge and the ones in another part of the garden that I forgot are quite small. Giving them a good manure mulch both feeds them and keeps the roots moist. Neither of them are in full sun.
