I have just re-read the book "Harvest and Harvesters" by John Hargreaves. We first bought and read it when it was published in 1987, but having just re-read it , I found it even more fascinating than then, not least because of the all the changes which have happened since then.
The book follows a number of market gardeners/commercial growers in Britain (including garlic, damsons, cherries, salad stuff, cauliflowers, raspberries and many others). If you get a chance to buy/borrow it, I would highly recommend it.

Hi Monika, I have been looking for this book on Amazon/Ebay but I have not been able to find it. Do you know where I could find it? It sounds really interesting.

It was my fault, Catherine, I omitted an "s", the title is "Harvests and Harvesters"!

Just wanted to let everyone know how kind some people are. Laura answered the posting about trying to find the above book, she said that she had a copy and would send it to me. I offered to pay for it but she would not hear of it and suggested I send a donation to charity. I sent her my address and today the book arrived in the post. I am sending a donation to the local hospice. It is so nice to "meet" people who are so kind and generous. I will settle down to start reading tonight.

Sorry but looking at the dates of these postings shows that the original postings were in March 2011!! Am I going mad. I thought it was recently when I had posted. I know I am stressed at the moment but not a year down the line. Please tell me I am not going mad...

Is it something to do with the site upgrade...
