Why don't we just go onto Mumbai time and become the land of the midnight sun --- and the midday moon!

I agree Alan.
A one hour change is plenty. Whatever changes are made to the "official" time, the hours of daylight don't change, so (when you have the choice) set your alarm clock for the time you wish.

I'd vote for an hour change but no Summer Time.

I'm all for the 2 hour change. I don't mind going to work in the dark if it means more light in the evening and it brings us into line with the rest of Europe.

Me,I'm for sticking to GMT, it works so if it ain't broke don't fix it!! :D
And as for the idea of moving May Day Bank Holiday to St.David's or St George's Day,or to a date in October, this just shows the pettiness of this Tory-led government.A Bank Holiday in October and on respective National Saint's days, but not at the expense of another Bank Holiday. This would really bring the U.K. in line with with Europe where they have more National and Bank holidays than us,not shifting time :!:

I don't suppose it suits the present government to have an "International Labour/Workers' Day" on the same day as everybody else. My proposal would be to have "May Day" on "May Day". that is, 1 May - weekday or weekend - rather than holding it on the Monday following. As for a move helping tourism, I can't really see how that would work!

But I do wish we had a fixed Easter, just as Whitsun was fixed many years ago to the Spring Bank Holiday.
