Anyone ever heard ot these. Bought by the OH from Morrissons yesterday.A vegetable purporting to come from China. Advice is to use it as you would a spud. Oval in shape with a mottled type skin and very white flesh. Can be boiled, fried, mashed etc. Had some yesterday boiled and today boiled and then fried. It definitely has a texture and taste not unsimilar to spuds,it is certaintly worth trying again.I cant find any reference to it in books or the internet.

We some a few weeks ago from a fruit & veg market stall which usually stocks a small selection of "Queer Gear" as I heard one neighbour call it. (Mind you, I think even a mushroom would hover on her definition of "queer".

We tried boiling them like potatoes, and found they did have a slightly similar flavour and texture, but for the price being charged we were somewhaty underwhelmed and probably wouldn't buy them again unless we could find a really interesting recipe for using them.
