Leaving Enviromesh out over winter??

Can anyone advise on problems I may get doing this?
I appreciate that if it snows I'll have problem with the weight etc.
I'm interested to know whether enviromesh gets damaged by low temperatures, frost etc?
Out of laziness, leaving it out would provide some protection to my greens from the pigeons in the next few months. If it's not good for it, I'll have to buy some normal netting and get it out pronto (might be a challenge before this weekend's wintery blast!).

Your enviromesh should be fine Colin. The only thing I've noticed is that it can get a bit dirty or go green. I put it in the washing machine before using it again and it comes up nice and clean, if not to its original colour.

Tent it in a tallish upside down v and most of the snow will slide down it rather than weigh it down

We've left ours out over our carrots for year with no ill effect except of course the snow effect.

Gosh PP, do you only use small pieces or do you have a monster washing mashine?
Thanks for the reassurance everyone and just to confirm, it's spread over hoops made from water piping so it's like a mini-tunnel around 3' high and 5 yards long. The snow did make it sag a little the other week, but it didn't flop over the greens.

I can manage to stuff a 16 ft x 6 ft piece in the washing machine Colin.
I've just been trying to remember when I bought it and it is at least ten years ago, probably more as it was a special offer for a very long roll from Organic Gardening magazine. It has been in constant use cut into various lengths to fit the raised beds and is still in good condition, so I wouldn't worry about it deteriorating if left over winter.

I agree with PP. You can stuff a surprising amount of Enviromesh into a machine. It doesn't tumble like clothes in the wash but because of its texture the water sloshes through it very well. Use a low temp. wash cycle. I add a bit of stain remover/bleach powder like Vanish which restores it a treat.
