We are in the middle of having to re do our lounge because of a damp problem caused by dodgy building work which we did not know about. So new carpet, curtains and suite. The suite has been ordered, the carpet has been ordered (and it is not an expensive carpet)  But the curtains have taken our breath away. Our window is a large bay and our previous curtains had a pinched pleat pelmet, (they have been up for 15 years  ) I have looked for ready made curtains but cant find anything that will fit. So I have priced up three companies    It will cost more than the blessed carpet. No wonder I am having sleepless nights. If only I was capable of sewing such large quantities of material I would make them my self.

Tonight we have brought back several paint testers to try and decide what colour to paint the walls. I now have pieces of painted paper samples all over the place.

Because it is a room we only use in winter, (we have a small sitting room which we use all summer which looks over our small garden) we have to be careful what colours we use otherwise things look horrible. We are not into the latest colour trends, this room has to last. :)

On the gardening side we had organised some manure to come tomorrow for our beds but we have had to cancel it as our plot is swimming in water and far too wet to get on with a wheel barrow. We have grass paths which would be ruined if we even tried to get in there.

Dear Catherine, if you could find a local seamstress, they might be able to help, and probably at a lot more reasonable price, hope i'm not confusing things.

Don't forget paint looks slightly different shades on different walls depending what light is hitting them, so try your paint testers on all walls.

We too have had a lot of rain in the last few hours, so no digging tomorrow for me.

I'm sure your Winter room will look very inviting when done. :)
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Sounds like a pretty stressful time Catherine, I hope it soon improves for you, sounds like all your hard work will be worth it in the end. If you have already chosen your material then I was going to suggest a seamstress as OH already has, but some ready made companies are reasonablY cheap if you can find the size and design you want. We are expecting rain this weekend too, it has been mild so far for the time of year.
