Just come to clean off the white shading on the greenhouse glass and once again puzzled by the "trails" going right up to the eaves. I presume they're slug trails, thought I've never caught one on the glass. But why do the little blighters do it? Do they see the plants inside and think they can get at them that way, or do they like the taste of the shading? Anyone know?

More likely to be snails looking for somewhere snug to overwinter.
Check under the rims of any pots you are keeping in the greenhouse to.

Hi John.

You could try a barrier of used coffee grounds ar the base to stop them or the new wool pellets act as a barrier too and are harmless but a good deterrent that really irritates the little blighters !

I don't know why they do it, but do try and wash off the trails before they dry out. We had some climb up our patio window and their trails dried in the strong sunshine. The window cleaner had to use a scraper and some strong toilet cleaner to remove them. Ordinary hot soapy water wouldn't touch them.
