Niger seed germination

Hi All,
Just a completely different subject but I suddenly realised what the plant was that has been springing up in various places in the veggie patch - niger or Guizotia abyssinica. It is supposed to be heat treated to prevent germination but I guess the odd one must slip through but I have had about 10 not counting the ones I pulled up. Guess the weather conditions hot and dry suited it. A really pretty yellow flower which I thought wrongly was tick seed.
I have saved the seed to see if I can get some more next year!

Apparently not uncommon escape from bird feeding.

Thanks Alan for that link - it really is a very nice plant and I had no idea it was so prevalent in the south. I just hope the seed I save germinates!
