Hi Alan,
Kenya developed it's own GM Sweet Potato several years ago now.
Nothing to do with any large companies it was produced by one of their own universities. It has been very successful and has almost doubled output. It has also helped to allow farmers to update their farms by selling any surpluses it has also helped to open the world of education to many who prior to the advent of this GM Potato were not able to get education on the grounds of cost.
