I hadn't either OH till I read this.

We do get bee flies in our garden they lay eggs in bees nest, but they adapt by looking similar to the bees,where the cuckoo wasp has bright armour to protect it when laying in the wasp nest.

Wow! What a stunning creature! I have heard of them but never seen one... I'm not likely to either seeing as it is so scarce and me living "up North"

Hi Elaine,
The one that NB posted is one of the rarer ones, although there about 30 different Ruby Tailed Wasps in the UK. All of them parasitise other bees and wasps. Some of them are quite common, so you may see one even "up north"
