Hello Mandy,
Photos can be added to a posting....but only by virtue of a link to a photo hosting site.

I use www.photobucket.com but I'm sure there are loads of others. With photo bucket do be very careful in the sign up not to get caught for lots of casino advertising or similar..!!

If you click on the link below it should take you to an early discussion on photo posting.

viewtopic.php?t=25

Your required photo is uploaded to a hosting site which in the case of photo bucket then offers a link that can be copied and pasted onto the TKG forum pane.
You can use the preview button to check that it works and looks all ok before committing to Submit and posting to the forum.

If though you mean to use a photo for an Avatar under your sign up name then that is slightly different and can be uploaded straight from your computer.
There is a size limit of 120pixels X 120pixels and less than 12kb.
The desired photo would need re-sizing via whatever program you may have on your pc and then it can be uploaded direct via your profile section.

I hope this all reads right.??..I was not sure 'til I had a tried it all out and clicked a few buttons to see what they did..!!

All the best,
Clive.

Hi Clive

Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a go. Can we do pictures in colour?

Hello Chris and Mandylew
I used Clive's advice when I asked about picture posting last week as you will see when you follow the link given.
There is also a bit of help on the site itself. When you click on 'post reply' and the text box comes up, go down a bit lower to the left and find BBCode is ON. BBCode is a link and if you go into this page and scroll down there is a section on posting images once you've done the photobucket stuff.
If you want to practise your picture post why not use the 'website help forum' as some of us have done.
If you've got it worked out OK though, your photo should show up when you try preview.

John

please don't!

Those of us on dial up (broad band not reaching us in the middle of nowhere) have real problems accessing forums where lots of people post pictures as a matter of course, as it takes so long! And the more popular the subject matter the longer it takes.

Hello fen
Point taken. I know that quite a lot of people don't like pictures in postings as you say because it slows things down.
One way round this problem would be to have a forum 'Gallery' or whatever just for pictures of interest. I have suggested this in an earlier posting but Mr P Head hasn't picked up on it.

Hello, Mandy, Chris, John, Fen,

I think the picture posting facility could well be very useful given that it refers to a specific question that can only be best dealt with by the addition of a photo of said problem or whatever....but, as suggested, it would be best not to turn into a picture with every message because it does all take time to load.

I had a play about with some photo postings out of fun & curiosity to find out how to post and prove it could be done.

A similar thought came into postings on the Flypast magazine Historic Aircraft forum...the main forum got clogged with Airshow photos...which I have to say were absolutely stunning...but took time to load. The answer there was a seperate section for the Airshow photos...so that now only a few photos immediately relavent to a particular thread in the Historic section appear rather than a string of 10 photos on one message.!!.
Previously by the time the 6th photo had loaded all you got after that was white squares with a red cross..!!

..another section.??..oops..??!!

All the best,
Clive
