An Unusual Paragraph

This is an unusual paragraph. I’m curious as to just how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so ordinary and plain that you would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is highly unusual though. Study it and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out. Try to do so.

(I came across this puzzle the other day - and had to look up the answer! If you cannot work it out, I will give the answer in three days' time!)

You are right, John! Did you know it before? I certainly did not work it out and as someone who regularly solves the codeword puzzles (where the abundance of he letter 'e' is very important), I should have cottoned on.

No. It took me a few minutes but I guessed some common word or term was missing and then I noticed the lack of that letter.
