Has anyone ever seen anything like this? This is one tray of mixed type tomatoes. All the other trays are fine. What the hell is wrong with them? :?

Dear Chantal, i have seen this before on my tomatoes, not sure what exactly causes it, i have always put it down to bruising, turning into internal decay.

But i also would also be interested in an answer.

Hi Chantal, I thought perhaps you had grown the heritage sutton or sno white varieties, lol, but not funny really, have not seen that before.
could it be this?
* Gray Wall Gray Wall is essentially a ripening problem. Symptoms: The green fruits may have a gray cast or gray blotches. Ripe fruit will have green or brown areas on the inside of the fruit. Management: Good growing conditions will prevent gray wall. Make sure plants aren't heavily shaded, are receiving even waterings and fertilizer and that the soil is not compacted around the roots. Cool temperatures and stressed or unhealthy plants also contribute to the problem.

They don't look grey, they really do look white.

The plants were fine and very healthy etc.

What's more puzzling is that the hundreds of other tomatoes are the right colours. What's so special about this one tray?

They've not been banged around, they've been treated the same as all the rest. It's not even just one variety, there's half a dozen varieties there.

I'm baffled.

Hi Chantal

Sorry to see your tomatoes. It looks as though they are soft and about to rot in the affected areas. Have they had an unexpected blast of sun?

Just a shot in the dark.

I think you have it Alan! These two trays are on the top shelf with no shade, unlike the rest. I'm actually very relieved as it's not a disease and I can fix the problem although I've lost these few. They're not soft yet but I suspect they soon will be.

Thanks
