Pitted radishes

Every year, our radishes are pitted with small white surface holes, making them look unappetising, though they are perfectly ok to eat. Is it flea beetles that do that (they certainly attack the leaves) or slugs or snails? And is there a solution?

Dear Monika, i've always put it down to little black slugs, but i would also, be interested to see what others think.

I suspect they are Keel Slugs the same little buggers that attack your Potatoes!
