Not totally the same thing because the article refers to plants inside and outside council offices, but I do feel sorry for the many municipal plantings around here which have suffered really badly in the dry spell. Because we have had hardly any rain for the last three months, many of the beautifully planted roundabouts, park areas and roadside beds (Harrogate is particularly good at all those) are flagging badly. No doubt, if the council spent money on watering them, there would be an outcry, but it must be heartbreaking for the staff to see them wither away.
