I'm sure I'm not the only person whose outdoors tomatoes are splitting with all this rain. It's so frustrating because many of them are not yet ripe. I'm picking them and trying to ripen them quickly on trays indoors so that I can cook them down for purree but apart from the banana trick does anybody have any other ideas how I can ripen them before they start rotting on me?

Hi Primrose, after drought, we have had a lot of rain too lately, just when we need sun to ripen. You could cut your losses with the green ones and make some green tomato chutney dates added will sweeten them. My ones in tubs outdoors are splitting but the ones in the mulched raised beds are doing fine - no splits, I guess its draining better.
