noise on the allotment

Yesterday our next door neighbour decided to strim his allotment with a petrol strimmer. The noise from his strimmer drove us off our plot as we could not stand it any longer.

It was so unpleasant I know this is a job that needs to be done, but please think about the people next to you, we could not work on our plot. we had to pack up and go home as three quarters of an hour of noise was more than we could manage. The chap doing the strimming had no ear protectors on and kept taking his goggles off because he could not see.

It sounded like there was no silencer on the machine.

On a small 2-stroke engine the silencer is about the size of a box.of cooks matches and the engine is high-revving so it will be noisy.
I would be more worried by flicked out flying debris from a neighbouring plot thanI would be by noise. Small stones especially.

Yes I was also worried about that as there is only a small path between us I kept moving us away from his workings.

It probably wont get done again for quite a while.

Hi Catherine
It is annoying - but I imagined another post: "Plot neighbour refuses to cut grass on his path"

Cathrine, the way to look at it is it dosnt happen every day and he has to do it.Maybe you could find out what days he plans to strim and dont go your plot that day other wise cotton wool stuck down your ears.Cant think of any other suggestions...hope this helps

I know I must have got out of bed on the wrong side when I posted this moan as having re-read my post I sound very grumpy. Sorry.

I do agree he has to do it. I will just make sure I am not there when he does it again.
