Does anyone know where I can get one please. I have searched everywhere. It must have the long handle ortherwise it's no good to me as I can't dig with it cos of my back.

I need to replace mine cos some little thieving &&^*))*(^&^*() stole mine when I accidently left it out. The metal part of the spade needs to be heat resistant for when I catch the bugger

My lottie isn't getting dug at the moment cos I have nothing suitable.

Thanks for the help in advance

B&Q do a long-handled shovel for about £20.

Lizzie.....I see you're seriously considering my suggestion then!
Sorry you didn't get it back.

Yes Elaine...........I am taking your suggestion seriously. I', laid back about most things accept theft. That annoys the hell outta me.

Hi Snooky..............B&Q do not do them here, and there are none on their website at all. I've tried my local good garden centre, Rapid, Wilkinsons, the new Swedish shop we have here, and a few online places to no avail.

This is serious because if I can't use a long handled spade, I cannot keep my plot on cos my back will not take the strain of using a short one.

- but it doesn't say how long.

Got mine from Lidl or Aldi but haven't spotted them on offer this year. These all seem a bit expensive.

Are we talking about a spade with a long handle or a Devon Shovel?

I was lucky and an americam friend got me my long handled spade. I did a lot of searching and found my long handled fork for £25 on amazon. it was under the name of Diarmond Gavin the irish gardener and was delivered promptly and is great. I can fully recommend it. good luck in your search.

And you can try Heligan. They have a great range of tools and will deliver via internet orders.

Thanks everyone. I have now ordered one from Amazon for £13 and it should be here soon. I did look at the Diarmiud Gavin one to be honest, but thought i'd see how this one goes before I spend that amount of money. I'm reluctant to spend too much n case the on site thief comes calling again

Lizzie,I suggest use a hot poker and write your name on the handle, grins, also keep an eye on freecycle for a spare one, so you are nor without if it happens again.
