hi sorry to ask more questions but I have an invasion of ants in my raised beds I have found one cauliflower seedling and 1 cabbage seedling chewed off at the base of the stem I used the 'grow your own' version of nematodes about 3 weeks ago but they just seem to be getting worse not better. have spent a fortune setting up my little veg plot don't want it all to be in vain due to some pesky ants! wanted to ask your opinions before I go and spend more money on something that might not work.

It's possible your raised bed is too dry in parts. If you can locate the nest/s and it's possible to disturb the soil do so. Ants will move away if you flood them. Boiling water is best, but not awfully plant-friendly, but cold water if effective for a while. Cheaper than nematodes at eight quid a pack!

will try keeping it wetter and see if that helps - they are actually more prevalant in the shallower ends of my beds which would fit .
