Romanesco - victim of the frost?

I went to the lottie today and found that my Romanesco cauliflowers, planted out under enviromesh nearly two weeks ago have died.
It certainly looks like frost damage, even though they came through a hardish frost last week without any problems. All the other brassicas are ok!
Has this happened to anyone else?

For indoor sowing, my packet said from beginning of April onwards.
But when it comes to hardening off and planting out, it does say 'avoid frosts'!
At least there's still plenty of time to get some more started!

The packet also says that harvesting can start at the end of July and continue until the end of December. Last year I sowed on the 12th April, and harvesting only began mid-November. When would I have to sow if I wanted to harvest them in July !

I think they make it up as they go along. My Suttons packet states; sow May-June. Harvest September -November.

They were in my diary for this week but we have decided not to bother, never got a worthwhile crop in three years of trying.
