Water collection system for a polytunnel

I help to run a school vegetable garden and we have an 8ft x 12ft polytunnel. Recently our outside tap was cut off and i need quite a large amount of water to water the polytunnel (mainly tomatoes) during the summer holidays. Does anyone have any ideas about collecting water from the polytunnel roof, I know that there is plytunnel guttering you can buy from Northern Polytunnels but I heard that it was pretty useless!
Thought one of you may have devised your own system.
Many thanks, gracie

Hi Gracie

You might find this old post from the late Allan Day useful:

Having read it, though, you might decide it would be easier to get the water supply reconnected.

Thanks Alan, its an interesting thread but unfortunately it wouldn't help with my problem. I would love to connect the mains tap again but the headmistress says it isnt an option! ( Don't think she realises how much water tomatoes need!)

Hi Gracie

Typical headteacher :x (Yes I was a teacher :( )

Perhaps your only solution is an ultimatum: "No water = no school garden".
Or maybe she doesn't want a garden anyway.
