With more nights of ground frost forecast I am wondering what sort of summer we might expect. The last three awful summers were preceded by fairly promising spring conditions, at least according to my records. If we survive cold and dry and windy, perhaps we will enjoy the "barbecue summer" last year didn't manage.
We bought a new barbecue a couple of days ago - so we are confident

I'm not holding my breath about a barbeque summer, but all the same I am very hopeful of at least a half decent summer for a change.
Raining and cold here again today;WHY is it always the weekend when it's nice during the week?

I'm going to console myself by spending the morning in the greenhouse making some more space for all the potted on tomatoes etc. I can double the surface area with some junk removal, I think.
If I can't make space then look out Seedling, as I'll be round later with a car full of pots for you to look after.
I do have a second greenhouse which is supposed to be for just this purpose, but it was getting very overshadowed by trees so the chickens used it all last year for dust bathing and keeping warm. We've now removed all the trees, but I don't have the heart to clean it out and ban them from their favourite place, they have such a wonderful time in there. When they go, they're not going to be replaced and I can reclaim it.

I fear we are short of precipitation - probably make up for it with blizzards in June the way it is going. Anybody heard if ice melt has stopped the Gulf Stream?

I thought we were having a snow flurry yesterday! I was in my office looking out of the window in disbelief and then realised it wasn't snow flakes but seeds of some sort. It wasn't blossom, it was fluffy, but I have no idea what it was. It went on for hours and hours!

Must have come a long way, I can't recall a willow tree anywhere near the town centre.

Dear Chantal if volcanic ash can make it round the world, i don't suppose the lighter willow seed would be too troubled.
