Hi all. We had a good discussion on minimum temperatures for tomatoes. Can anyone tell me, are pepers as sensitive - i.e., liable to damage at temperatures below 10C? I've got some good plants which should really be going into their final pots shortly.

I don't know about below 10 degrees, but I find people growing chilli peppers on the allotments here well into the winter, but I've never seen sweet peppers on the plots. I suspect all peppers need to be coddled until well into the summer but the chillis can then stand colder temperatures than the sweet ones.

I am aware that you can raise Peppers at certainly lower temperatures lower than 10C but for myself I would apply the 10C rule.
These are plants from different shores and although they will tolerate some lower temperatures every time you expose the plants to low temperatures they take a check in their growth pattern in some form.
So as far as I am concerned in order to get the best out of your Peppers it would be best to stick to the 10C rule.
