Climbing french beans

Need to know the best time to plant?

Hi All ,two to three weeks ago I planted some' blue lake' bean seeds in pots in the cold greenhouse ,they have all come lovely ,when is the best time to plant out ?
I have set up a bean trench with lots of manuare in it so they should be off to a goood start once they are in, just didnt want to put them out too early and spoil them .Any recomendations would be appreciated .

You don't say where you are, but French beans are very touchy about frost or even low temperatures nearing frost, so I would certainly wait until you are sure the nights are not too cold.

I would take them out of the greenhouse every morning and put them back at night, if you possibly can, for a fortnight or so and then plant them out if it is safe to do so.

Dear Bitzy66, they are very wise words from Monika, although you can never really harden French Beans off completley, it does get them used to the fresh air, by bringing them out in the day.

In my case planting out will be at the end of the first week in June.
Mine are still in the packet and probably I will get to sowing them next week.

I think it was a case of taking the seed packet too literally when I planted them too early still the green house is not too far away :lol:
