I sowed some celeriac in a tray and subsequently transferred some of the seedlings into individual modules. Those left in the tray are now twice the height of those I transplanted into modules and I'm wondering which will be the healthiest seedlings to plant out when the weather gets a little warmer. Those transferred into modules didn't show any obvious signs of being checked by the process but will these ones be developing stronger roots?

Hum, growth check was the first thing that came to my mind.

I guess, if you have the space to sow both, it would be a good experiment to see which produces the strongest plants. The modular-grown plants should have good root-growth due to extra space, you'd think.

I've grown both before Primrose and found one will catch the other one up. Both will give you a good crop. In my opinion I think the ealier you can prick out the better as there is less root disturbance.
