We have been putting the contents of our rabbit hutch onto the compost heap. Obviously has quite a lot of straw in it and was wondering how long it might take for t to be ok to apply to veg beds etc. :?:

Morning JoJoB, as long as the sraw has started to break down and mixes easily with the other compost it will be fine.
What length of time is a job to say, as open heaps or compost bins all take different times to rot, as does what goes into the compost heap.
But a very rough guide, i would leave it six months in the Winter and maybe as short as three months in theSummer.

I was wondering whether to do this, but I only have a smallish "dalek" composter & decided against it as it would fill it too quickly. I do put the "toilet corner" contents into the composter sometimes. Is this Ok?
