White Rot

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

I have just taken on an allotment and the previous owner has advised me not to grow onions as the plot has white rot. I have heard of a method which involves crushing lots of garlic, adding it to olive oil or something similar, leaving it to soak for a while, draining off the garlic flavoured oil and spreading it over the plot. I am told this will 'wake up' the white rot which will then perish as there are no onions/garlic/shallots to feed on. I would welcome any thoughts on this or any advice on other measures.

If you look further down this page you will see that I asked advice on this problem in February, and will see the helpful replies I got, which I hope will be of benefit to you.
