Pepperdew peppers

I was reading something about Pepperdew peppers recently, which I gather are apparently a cross between between a pepper and a tomato. Has anybody ever grown them? Are they worth trying, and where can you buy the seed? I don't think I've ever seen them advertised in a seed catalogue?

They're certainly not a cross.

They're a copyrighted (?) brand

No chance of buying the fresh peppers in the shops then, extracting the seeds and trying to dry and plant them.

Hi Primrose,
I somehow recall Piglet growing Peperdew or maybe only very partial to them but it may be worth a trip into search to find out more.

Make of it what you will.

Just as an aside, we bought a jar of Peppadew a few years ago and found them disgustingly sweet and chucked them

Wasn't Chantal discussing Peppadews with Piglet 2 or 3 years ago?

If you do a search here, or ask Chantal, she may be able to advise further.

I am a big fan of the pepperdew peppers in the summer - I have noticed that sometimes, some of the pepperdews in the jar still have seeds attached. They have been submersed in the vinegar for a long time though so I guess they wouldn't germinate...
