Germinating seeds - time/water/soil help plz

Hello everyone, I had a project at Dundee University where we had to come up with a service to help the environment... now to do this we had to research, prototype our ideas and then of course present them.

Our idea was to fight pollution using plants... whether it was in the home or outdoors... the project is now over.

Now I have plants that I have no experience looking after =)... and seedlings waiting to germinate.

But my question tho is how long do these seeds take to germinate... id hate to think i overwatered them.

Spider plants - bought them so it grew fine - takes in 98% of pollution in house hold according to research we did.

Here are seeds i tried to grow in time for project to show presentation (which to this point - have not grown)

Aloe Vera - one of top 10 anti pollution plants
Japanese Red Maple - sounds impossible for me to grow so I doubt ill see that for while

Now ones im paranoid about growing are =) - its been 2-3 weeks since i planted these and still no signs of germination. - I know it prob will take more than 3 weeks but I was just wondering in general how often i should water it and what type of soil i should have used - I bought some seedling soil from dobbies garden center and also bought Soil mixture from B&Q for the grown spider plants. Was wondering what is better for growing seedlings (Prob seedling soil id image :P but thats seeds for plants i think not tree seeds.

Silver Maple
CAMPHOR TREE - aka - Cinnamomum camphora
SIBERIAN ELM - aka - Ulmus pumila
Aloe Vera

Hope you can give a new plant/tree grower some advice.
Take care.
David.

Don't know about your growing problems but could you try using punctuation? It is a simple courtesy that helps your reader make sense of what you are trying to say (and will get you better marks even if your experiment completely fails). I gave up after the first few lines...

lol soz, nah I just decided to grow seeds to confirm that I am looking after them properly.

I am completely unexperienced... so if I can do it then the people who use site should be able to as well.

Sorry about not making sense, I been doing so much uni work lately... lets just say its been hard.

I got 5 university projects due tommorrow.

Back to tree seeds - these are likely to take some time, so you'll have to be patient! Hope you got the 5 projects in.
