Now we have moles in the allotment

We have not been going round our allotment recently due to the snow and wet. We have grass paths so we would just churn the paths up if we dont stay off them.

However, this weekend we did walk round the path and every path has mole runs in them. It was really wierd as the soil was very soft and very strange to walk on.

We have bought a mole trap so hopefully we will be able to catch the blighter (s) but I dont know what will happen when we start working on the beds. I would think we will be disappearing into holes, never to be seen again.

Dear Catherine, moles are a real nuisance on allotments, especially when they get into seed beds.

When setting your trap, try and find a main run and not where they have just pushed up just under the grass.

Happy hunting, and if you disappear down a hole, we will send a forum search party for you. :)

Thank you again OH, I will do as suggested. Strangely they have not come up very often in the paths they seems to have stayed just under the surface so it is only when you walk on the paths that you can feel the tunnels. Very strange.
