I've been using WD40 around my pots and raised beds and i really does seem to keep out the slugs and snails. Does anyone else use this and is it hamful in any way ?

Wow, WD40?? I didn't know that worked, though can't imagine it could really be that good for the slugs and snails... I use a deterrent made from granite shards, it really works and is good for the environment as it's recycled and wildlife friendly. Plus, it doesn't smell as bad as WD40!

I scouted around before trying it and it seems to me to be the best and cheapest method. I get mine here:

I'm afraid that's what happens to snails on our plot or in our garden. My husband gets the job because I can't bring myself to do it....I cannot bear the crunching noise...ugh!
Cheers.
