I am very new to kitchen gardening. Can someone please tell me what the colours mean in the "at a glance" calendar in the Basic section of the KG mag. Also in this month's issue, the basic guide is for leeks, but nowhere can I find how far apart you're supposed to plant them - can anyone help.

Dear Linda Mary, the chart has got me stumped too.
As for distances apart, if you want to grow mini leeks 3 inches will do, 6 inches for a usable kitchen size and 9 inches for whoppers.
These measurments are only a guide and and don't have to be precise.
And a very warm welcome to the forum.

Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

It is all a bit confusing but my guess is dark green means OK, mid-green means possible and light green means no-no for sow/plant/harvest.
