In his 'Book of Weather' published 2003 he looks at what might happen as a result of Global Warming, and his first entry is for 2008.
Feb 12th: ......already the coldest winter since that of 1978-79, and if the Artic winds continue for another two or three weeks it may yet rival the historic winter of 1962-63 as the coldest of the last 200- years. The big freeze set in during the weekend before Christmas and tightened its grip during the New year as a succession of heavy snowfalls swept southern England, Wales and the Midlands.....
Climate experts are busy trying to reconcile this exceptional winter (and also last year's poor summer) with global warming. One senior scientist explained: 'An upward trend in global temperature does not mean that the temperature climbs steadily year-by-year in all parts of the world. Cold episodes will continue to occur in one part of the world or another, and this year it is our turn.....'
Ok - so he is 2 years out and the cold is probably more widespread than he envisaged - but....
And the next entry is Washington, December 31 2011
'Climate experts at the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration said that, globally, this year has been the warmest on record, beating the previous record which was established last year by a hug 0.4C.....'
Interesting!! And the sun is now showing signs of waking up from its longest minimum since early last century.

Also I read that acrtic ice melt could change the path of the gulf stream which keeps us temperate, losing that would make for much colder winters.
Sit down before a fact as a little child, be prepared to give up every preconcieved notion, follow humbly wherever and to whatever abyss nature leads, or you shall learn nothing.
