Winter Gem Lettuce

Need to know the best time to plant?

I sowed some of these new Winter Gem lettuce seeds in my greenhouse bed in September and they look like they are coming on ok, but they may be trying to bolt, or perhaps they are just going to be tall? Does anyone else have experience of these? They are new for this winter I think....

Hi Compo,

You should notice the beginnings of a central stem starting to protrude, thats usually a clear sign of bolting. Bolting typically occurs due dramatic changes in heat and light levels. As you have little gem then it may just be at the height where it is ready to harvest.
