The people and town of Wootton Bassett deserve to be honoured for the respect shown to our soldiers on their return home.For approximately one hundred times this year they have turned out in their hundreds,young,.old,ex-servicemen and women, serving men and women and the townsfolk to honour our soldiers who have lost their lives in conflict.Surely a medal such as the George Cross(?) is deserving of this town.

I completely agree with you snooky, the Wooton Bassett townsfolk are a credit to our nation.

This is not orchestrated respect put on for the media, rather it is genuine heart felt respect from the people of this country for those that have given their lives for the nation.

I completely agree I couldn't be there and feel that the people of Wootton Basset represent people like me who honour these brave young folk, I don't like conflict but I respect and value the soldiers AND their families who give so much on our behalf.

Oh how I agree with Macmac. The people of Wootton Basset are an example to us all. Being an ex-serviceman I appreciate that at least there would have been a wonderful group of people who cared had I paid the price.

I agree totally............the town needs to be honoured in some way. It must be so comforting to the relatives to know that their loved ones are being shown respect in this way, and the relatives also know they are offered a warm welcome and empathy from the people there. Cos, let's face it, I don't think any of the politicians give a flying **** about those lads who lost their lives.

I add my praise for (and gratitude) the people of Wootton Bassett to everyone else's. You have all expressed my sentiments exactly.

My son is in the RAF and until earlier this year served at RAF Lyneham, where the repatriations take place. He and all his colleagues have the utmost respect for these good people who turn out in their hundreds, come hail rain or shine, to receive our lost ones home.

Kind of restores ones faith in human kind.
