Yesterday we went walking up on Fair Snape Fell and Parlic Fell above Chipping. We were out to try our newest piece of equipment that isnt for gardening. Kahtoola micro spikes for walking in the snow and ice. They were our best buy for Christmas. They were really fantastic and we had a super day's walking. Even though we had to come off the fell in a snow storm and were hurrying down in case we got snowed in (yes it was that heavy) we did not slip once, even on sheet ice steps So at long last we have managed a decent walk, the first proper walk all this Christmas holiday.

Today we are stiff. but happy.

Has anyone else got something that is not for gardening but makes them really happy when they use it/them?

Don't know if this counts but we had a bonfire down the lottie today and my favourite "pokey" stick snapped last bonfire
So today my OH found a slim branch fom a tree (already cut down) and fashioned me a new pokey stick.It's just the right length and you can poke and reposition even a roaring fire ,I'm really chuffed but then I don't get out much

My husband has a special twiggy bit of wood that he always stirs his paint with. It has to be the 'special' wood - not just any old bit of wood.

Diane he's so right, I tried doing the bonfire with first a rake and then a fork but it was hopeless it just has to be a pokey tool

I got a D.A.B radio for my greenhouse, i have got it tuned into radio 3 blaring out classical music, and yes, i have had people smiling as they have visited my neighbours across the way.

I suppose i did look a bit funny twirling a pot of tulips around.

You put your wholeself in, your wholeself out, in out, in out, you shake it all about, you do the...........

And they were Tulips.

I suppose mine must be either one of two things, one is the invaluable kelly kettle that I boil tea on the allotment with, it uses twigs and kindling to boil water, hence no gas, empty cannisters or flasks which I always break.

The second might be my i-pod holds hundreds of my favourite tunes when ever I need cheering up, it is there. Which could I do without.....difficult one that, I would have to give it some pondering.

got to be a digital camera.... even used one a few weeks ago to take a pic of the top of my head to see where all the blood was coming from after I stood up under a bit of rusty metal
