It started to snow here about 4pm yesterday and I have got up early cause I cant sleep with a head cold I have had for a week. :( The road in front of our house is blocked at the moment and it is -2.8 degrees. I have an appointment at 8.30am in Gisburn for accupuncture but I think I will cancel it as I dont think she will thank me for bringing her a cold before Christmas, that is if I can get there. Just looked out side and it is snowing again. I thought that it was just the east coast that would get the snow. I think it is going to be a day for festering with the seed catalogues. :)

Morning Catherine, i would have got up earlier if i had known you were up and about already. :)

We have a fair bit of snow this morning and it is bitterly cold with a strong wind blowing.

And i agree, a sensible thing would be to cancel your appointment.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Good morning OH, I had expected you to be online already  obviously you're taking it easy today.

NB Thought you would have had alot more snow where you are. Yes it is very cold this morning. I am sitting on the sofa wrapped with a fleecy blanket and the fan heater on as I dont want to wake my OH who is still fast asleep  and our central heating makes rather a noise when it switches on. -2.4 deg in the garden. :!:

I think our lane must be blocked as i have not heard or seen anything come through.

I must admit it was quite cosy in bed this morning listening to the cold wind whistling outside.

I wish I could have stayed in bed but my cold would not let me. :(

My son travels to Manchester each morning to start work at 7am. I cant decide whether to text or ring him to make sure he is okay in case he has decided to stay in bed this morning with the weather being so bad. He will not thank me for a text or phone call at 6.30am. Mr grumpy I think.

The traffic on our road is just starting to move. But it is very icy as the gritter has not been up yet today.

We had a bit of a sprinkling last night - no depth to it just as though someone had dusted with icing sugar until the road was just covered.

Mostly gone this morning except where the sun doesn't reach. It's freezing though at almost minus 1 and the bird bath keeps freezing over!

1.5 inches snow outside home here at the moment and currently just a light drizzle of snow...

By chance of having a day off I did not have to venture into work today...but the reason for the day off is to take Dad to an appt at the, not so local , local hospital out patients...the jury is still out on that trip....

Meanwhile, I'm pleased I escaped my hour and a half captivity of yesterday :?
It would have been a cold night in that Applehouse...

Note for future ref; when visiting the Applehouse, now that the door moves easier following building work,...prop it back...as otherwise a gust of wind may just blow it shut with such force that the padlock hasp jumps over.. ....

Ah but remember Clive, you would be well provisioned.

Except the Apples are elsewhere this year...due to building work, new roof....there were a few end of their season Queen Apples, 2 bags of cement and 2 bags of hydraulic lime....not so appetising.. .

Make that 2+ inches snow..have been out and cleared the way to the car..

What a lovely day it's been! I have been out and about on foot, just for the fun of it, because I love the snow. Took some great wintery photos of crags and moor. Our village school wasn't closed and it was good to see all the children walking to school instead of being driven. Though, I must admit, they do have a wonderful system of a "walking school bus" here, where two or three parents walk a group of about twenty children to school every morning right through the village.

It's already minus three outside, so I have wrapped up the pots of all the fuchsias (supposedly hardy "Snowcap"), the bay tree, the lemon verbena and the French tarragon with double bubble wrap in the cold greenhouse, hoping for the best.

More snow on Sunday, they say.

Lots of snow here in the chilly Chilterns.
Had a terrible time returning from Cambs last night.
