Allotment Size

Does anyone know if there is a legal minimum size for an allotment plot? We have been splitting some of our plots as they become vacant, both to reduce our wating lists and also because many new gardeners these days can't manage a full plot. However, it has been mentioned to us that allotments should not be smaller than a half plot, ie 5 rods. Rather than try to wade through the Allotment Act, I wondered if anyone might know.
I contacted NSALG but they haven't got back yet.
Thanks

All I can contribute is that I understand the traditional "Standard" or full size plot is Ten Rod.

I say traditional because it is the size that seems to be used across many areas and I have not personally seen any legal document setting the size.

Obviously a three foot square would be a waste of space, but equally I do not know of any stipulation as to a minimum size and would be very interested to hear if there is a legal restriction, as my own Council has moved its maximum initial let down to Five Rod. :D
