An alternative use for my potato grow sacks

My first efforts at growing potatoes in plastic grow sacks wasn't very successful this year so next year, so next year I'm going to use them for something different. I'm going to follow this man's advice and try containers.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ptknVYjcIE I've previously grown Mooli in my vegetable patch but it's rather stoney so I potato sacks should provide an ideal slug free environment. With 8 weeks from sowing to cropping, I should be able to get two or more crops. Has anybody every tried growing them this way?

I grew them in a raised bed and they turned out well, should be fine as long as there is sufficient depth of soil, mine grew really long.

I grew some potatos in a couple of potato barrels this year and they came out really well. The barrels were approx 4'high by 2' wide and were earthed up as they grew.

Hello Primrose
I've grown potatoes in those special buckets for several years but like you despite my best efforts I've found that the yield is always poor. They always extra early though.
I don't know about Mooli but if you want another suggestion why not try early carrots? Varieties like the Nantes types or the ball-rooted ones eg Paris Market should do well.
I have a couple of blue barrels for growing carrots and always get good crops even when they are grown closely. Some help from a soluble feed will be needed. Early shorter varieties should do well on a smaller scale in buckets or bags.

Mooli seem to grow really well in our allotment (though they got hammered by the caterpillars this autumn, as did many other veg).
Interestingly, though you'd assume they needed a deep dug patch to achieve full length, I put ours in a no-dig section and they were fine. In addition, ours always stick out of the ground by 4-6 inches anyway!
