Fungi on lawn

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

We've got what looks like the beginning of a fairy ring on our lawn. I've read that watering the offending fungi with diluted washing up liquid is a effective way of getting rid of them. Has anybody tried this? Does it work? We had a really nasty one years ago and don't really want to go the "digging out the soil" route. I know fungi are a natural occurrence at this time of year but would prefer to get rid of them before they make the lawn too unsightly if possible.

not really an answer - but we have had a great crop of shaggy ink caps on the grass .... ( won't call it a lawn that implies something manicured)
and they are delicious when picked at the 'button' stage before they go all inky ... so I haven't wanted to get rid of the other fairy ring types as it may kill the mycillium of the SIC's !
