Hi all,

When I got my allotment back in late august, I planted out some spring cabbage, cauli's, and PSB that I had started in pots. I also planted a couple of Crown and Sceptres calabrese, not really expecting much from them with a late sowing.
They have all been growing away strongly, and this morning I was able to cut two very nice calabrese heads

Dear P.J, glad you are starting to get some good results, it really does make it all worth it.
Lets hope that is the sign of things to come.

That's great, Parsons Jack. There is nothing like newly picked calabrese. We picked the last "Early Rudolph" broccoli today but they have been very productive since the beginning of September, much earlier than expected. More broccoli coming on for after Christmas

For our lunch today we had my piece de resistance - "green soup", made with one small leek, two cloves of garlic, a handful of purple sprouting broccoli, two leaves each of curly kale, Ragged Jack kale, Nero di Toscana kale, three Brussels sprouts and a potato, the time taken from picking to eating about 30 minutes! Couldn't be fresher, could it?

That's about as fresh as it can be isn't it
It's so nice to have all the room that I need now. I've always managed to grow a certain amount, but never enough really.

Hi OH,

The previous tenant, who still has the plot next to mine, still had a dozen or so dahlias on my plot. They have dug up the three that they wanted to keep and the rest are mine
It just gets better and better
