can anyone offer a sneak preview of next months magasine offer? i don't want to leave ordering my sarpo potatoes too late from T&M otherwise i know i will get substitutes... again! but i don't want to miss a bargain.

Most of the mag offers are with DT Brown. Just did a quick check and they don't appear to do 'Sarpo' so might be as well to go with T&M.

I can tell you that we have a great offer of blight resistant Sarpo 'Mira' and 'Axona' tubers plus 10 tubers of a brand new blight resistant variety in the December issue of Kitchen Garden (on sale 5th November). Get your orders in early so as not to be disappointed.

I grew Sarpo Mira this year and was disappointed. Admittedly it was a difficult year here because of the excessive rain in July and August, but the yield was very ordinary, blight resistance not that much better than Rooster and cook didn't like them because of the occasional hard grey patches. We had shop-bought King Edwards immediately afterwards and the flavour of the mash was so much better. Shan't bother next year. Any other Sarpo suggestions?

I grew both mira and axona and blight resistance compared to everyone elses here in the damp north east they were phenomenal a great talking point and the spuds were huge!, Axona fared slightly better against the slugs so I shall stick with them next year, I'm not a potato conoisseur, i can't say i notice the difference between one spud and another, mainly bake, roast or use in curries, I will do some earlies in a raised bed for boiling.
