Hope you can still keep your clock going.
Unlike
the man at Helston!

Dear Alan, thank-you for posting that interesting snippet.
But if they think they will stop me from winding the Church clock, they are very much mistakened.
All this fuss and nonsense all the time, is quite ridiculous.

Meanwhile, we have got a new cast aluminium concertina? extending oversize loft ladder to climb up.....
Just have to watch lowering the trap door as bat droppings descend on you from above..!!
The old door lifted up rather than dropped down.
Unfortunately we are still lacking a set of clock hands..

..and I didn't get it wound in time this week and it stopped

...been rather busy with a working holiday group who would actually have been quite happy for it to stay stopped..as it might have helped their sleep above the adjacent stable block

Good evening OH,
May I apply for the job of steading your ladder, for Health and Safety reasons

Good morning Donedigging, there's not an actual ladder to steady in my tower, but the jobs yours anyway.

Dear Donedigging, well it looks as if you have over-slept, i'm off to wind the Church clock in a minute or two and the ladder needs holding.
It's my last week of wearing my kilt as well, before i go back into Winter trousers.

Dear OH. can't you sleep in the mornings or have you been to bed? I thought all you working folk had a lie in on Saturday and Sundays,I'm only killing time till its time to catch my bus to church, our church bell only rings 5 minutes before service starts.

Dear OH
Reminds me of the great joke from Spike Milligan:
Is there anything worn under the kilt?
No, it's all in perfect working order. There, that lowers the Sunday morning tone

Good Afternoon OH,
I am really sorry I overslept this morning.
The thought of you though at the top of the ladder in your kilt, has made me come over all unnecessary, on a Sunday aswell..

Dear OH,
I had to go and lie down in a darken room for a while,
but I am still grinning from ear to ear

Sorry I missed my first day
