Yellow rain

Over the past couple of days we've had wind and rain, sometimes from a northerly direction, but also some southerly breezes and it seems to have bought with it a fine yellow dust which has coated everything, including our car and outdoor washing. My outdoor tomatoes are smothered too. I'm wondering whether this is from some local pollution or whether its Sahara sand of some kind and other areas have been experiencing this too?

Probably pollen, a friend's car was covered last week as though flour-bombed and he said it was from a tree in their garden.

Yes, we've had it here in Dorset too. I always thought it was Sahara sand also.

Dust from Sahara tends rain to be red rather than yellow, in my experience.

Can we have our soil back..??!!
Dust storms have been swirling across Lincolnshire...mighty winds seem to have blown all week from the North and NE...and are drying everything up
..and I'm mighty tired from working in the said wind..

Yes, I saw that on TV. Bet the sellers of washing power are all rubbing their hands in glee at increased sales as all the overnight washing hung out has had to be taken in and rewashed.

I thought the dust gave Sydney a softness and notice how it reduced both foot & car traffic on the news footage - got to be a bonus.
Luckily they are coming out of winter and had their Pan Flu masks already.
Where I was brought up was outback we would get these dust storms but you could see them coming and get the washing in and shut the windows in time. Then you sweltered in 40 degrees or more until it passed! Ah memories - of the clean up afterwards

It can get in
everywhere despite sealing all possible gaps. Lucky Sydney has that to
come and no doubt the bridge painters will be behind now as well but should have sand blasted some of the flaking paint off.

Yes, we've had that yellow dusty rain too. My black car is FILTHY now! Will have to give it a wash tomorrow - hateful task.
Glad I've been getting the washing in each night.
