Hi everyone
Anyone know of a good site where I can buy jars in bulk please. Will be looking to buy around 200ish with lids.
Thanks

Sainsbury's Basic Mint Sauce at 15p is the best I've found of straight sided small jars. New lids available from Lakeland at a good price.
Best price for jars beyond (via internet) is 42p plus postage. Cheaper to abandon for mint sauce.

I've caused chaos in our nearest Sainsbugs, which is only a modest affair. They used to have just a dozen or so 15p Basic Mint Sauce available per week, but as I have been in there buying them up to 3 or 4 times a week, they've stretched to stocking many dozens more and I can now buy 3 dozen or more at a time.
Trouble is, I won't want any after November until next summer. I assume we will be back to stocking 12 jars by Christmas.
My septic tank will be pleased to have a rest - had to resort to putting discarded mint sauce in the recycling as too much vinegar is not good in a biological stew known as a septic tank!

Morning Tigger, bet all the local lambs think you are the chosen one.

Hi Lizzy,
We got some curry sauce from Asda for 5p a bottle. My hubby didn't believe me until we took them to the cash out.

Dunno about that, but I bet they don't go within a mile of her septic tank, or her recycling bin!

No - they don't! They stay the other side of the fence - usually.
I've got the curry jars too Sasha, but they're too big for jam. I use them for pickles.

When did you get the curry jars ladies? I'm going to Asda tomorrow and I need to get enough jars to do pickles, some jams and some chutneys. Got about 40 jars to make, so am getting the cheap mint sauce, and some cheap apple sauce for chutneys and need larger jars for pickled onions. I'm trying to keep my costs as low as possible. I'm making the covers from old fabric that i'm cutting out with pinking shears, got some ribbon I found in a drawer, just gotta sort out tie on labels. Going to buy the lid top labels to go under the fabric.
I'm trying to do my little opportunity for next to nothing......just to see if it works out

Having just read Primrose's letter on VAT it has just occurred to me that the way Tigger buys Mint Sauce for the jars is the way of not paying VAT
so if you have to buy new lids you will only pay VAT on them!
JB.

Curry sauce is Sainsbury's Basics - 5p a jar. Goodness only knows what's in it!
There again, the 15p mint sauce is fine, so maybe they just do them as loss leaders.

Ok, i've run into a problem here so maybe someone could help me out.
I got the 4p curry jars from Sainsburys (can't believe that people eat that sh*t)
But, I can't get the lids clean on the inside and the lids from Lakeland don't fit at all. I've tried soaking the lids in bicarb, boiling water, rubbing with salt, and using a brillo pad.
Anyone got any useful suggestions please?

Soaking in bleach, then suds, then Milton?
I don't re-use lids so I need to find out how I replaced them via the internet beyond Lakeland, as they must have come from somewhere!.
I'll sort out the contacts and post them.

I have never managed to clean the lids either. Nothing seems to remove the stain or the smell! eeew!
Cheers.
