Propagating courgettes

Does anyone know if it is possible to propagate a courgette plant? If so, how?
On my allotment this year, 3 courgette plants self-seeded themsleves. I suspect they arrived with the horse manure.
2 of the plants were pretty standard pale-green 'lebanese type' (Clarion possibly), but the 3rd was a yellow clone of the green ones. It grew with a very open habit, sending a single, long runner across the plot. I've been unable to find anything similar in the catalogues, so assume it's a cross.
I'm probably too late in the season now to get any viable seed from it, but would like to save the plant for next year, if at all possible.
